Professor Gabriel Główka, PhD

Dean
Dean of the Collegium of Business Administration of Warsaw School of Economics, and Director of the Institute of Corporate Finance and Investment in 2016-2024. A graduate of the Faculty of Production Economics at SGPiS (legal predecessor of SGH), he obtained his doctoral and post-doctoral degrees at SGH. His research focuses mainly on the functioning of the real estate market, including its deficiencies, with a particular emphasis on the formation of price bubbles in housing markets, as well as the systems of financing real estate investments and mortgage banking. Author of publications on these topics. Also active in economic practice: previously in the banking sector and currently in the construction industry.

Education

Graduate of the Main School of Planning and Statistics /now the SGH Warsaw School of Economics/, Faculty of Production Economics. He obtained his doctoral degree in economic sciences and his post-doctoral degree in economic sciences in the discipline of finance from the SGH Warsaw School of Economics

Business practice

  • From 1992 to 2000 – ING Bank Śląski – Branch Manager, Regional Manager.
  • From 2001 to 2003 – Vice-President, President of the Management Board at ING Bank Hipoteczny.
  • From 2003 to 2008 – Vice-President of the Management Board of Bank BGŻ S.A. – supervised the retail division, including, among others, the area of mortgage banking – mortgage products, distribution channels, valuation of financed real estate, cooperation with the risk division in the assessment of risks related to real estate lending.

Scientific interests

His research interests are mainly related to the functioning of the real estate market, systems of financing real estate investments, mortgage banking and the deficiencies of the real estate market, with particular emphasis on the formation of price bubbles. He is the author of publications on these issues and also has extensive practical experience. While working at SGH, he has also been professionally active in the banking sector, as well as in the area of implementing real estate investments and valuing real estate.

  • From 2016 to 2024 – director of the Institute of Corporate Finances and Investments
  • From 2006 to 2024 – member of the Supervisory Board of ERBUD S.A., listed company, Chair of the Audit Committee of the Board and, from 2016, also Vice-Chairman of the Board
  • From 2002 to 2004, and then since 2009 – member of the State Qualification Committee of the Ministry of Economic Development for the award of professional licences in real estate valuation.
